MR & MISS JUNETEENTH
Who will wear the crowns for 2026? If you’re a high school student, you can compete for the title of Mr. & Miss Juneteenth Overland Park!
Winners will be selected based on originality, creativity, enthusiasm, content, quality, community involvement, and following instructions.
Please read the below details and share this opportunity with eligible high school students! The committee looks forward to your participation.
Winners will be announced and notified by Friday, June 12th.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
- High school sophomores, juniors, or seniors during the 2025/2026 school year.
- Students must live in Johnson County or attend a school in Johnson County.
- The student’s school and/or address need to be verifiable (with a school ID, driver’s license, and/or state ID).
- Winners must be present at the Juneteenth Overland Park event on Saturday, June 13, 2026. (9 am–1 pm)
PRIZES
There will be two (2) prize winners, Mr. Juneteenth Overland Park 2026 (one selected male contestant) and Miss Juneteenth Overland Park 2026 (one selected female contestant). In the event there are only female or male applicants, the committee may designate two prize winners. Each winner will receive $250, payable in one of two ways:
- A $250 check payable to the student’s school, college, or university.
- A $250 gift card
EVENT OBJECTIVES
Your submission should support the Juneteenth Overland Park objectives:
- UNITY | Bring people of many cultures, backgrounds, languages, races, and differences together to celebrate, acknowledge, and honor our humanity.
- EDUCATION | Give more people an opportunity to learn about Juneteenth and why it’s important to our collective community.
- CELEBRATION | Celebrate our continued growth, resilience, strength, and progress as a diverse community when we move forward together in unity.
HOW TO ENTER
- Submit a video (PowerPoint with voiceover, video, TikTok, etc.) covering ONE of the following topics topics
- Video must be 2 to 4 minutes in length and must include an introduction, including the student’s name, age, school, and grade. Submission must be clear of profanity.
- Email the video submission with the Mr. & Miss Juneteenth Registration Form to juneteenthop@gmail.com.
